Measuring the weight of animals has been a necessary factor and a challenge in the veterinary industry for ages, and numerous ways of calculation have been tried and used over the years.
Physically weighing cattle on a weighing scale is a tedious and time consuming process, which often causes immense stress on the animals. A lesser stressful and time saving alternative was required for measuring and maintaining records of animal weight in order to regulate their diet and maintain good health.
Medicine dosages for the animals need to be given as per their weight, and if weight is unknown or inaccurate, the results would be unpredictable. A product to instantly weight the animals with high accuracy was needed on field by Veterinarians.
A calf grows completely within a year, and growth can be compared with Govt. guidelines, but in order to do this a tool of measurement with ease of use and accuracy was required.
These needs have led to the development of the Gau Tape.

Uses/Applications

The Gau Tape has 2 major uses:
a) measuring the heart girth of the animal in Inches
b) measuring the weight of the animal in KG
These readings can then be applied by the user for numerous applications that are essential for the health and wellness of the animals.
The Weight of the animal is essential & beneficial for the following routine functions:
1. Regulation of the diet of Animal for optimal productivity.
2. Growth regulation of calves by adjusting feeding requirements based on weight progression.
3. Irregularities in weight are an indication of health issues, by regularly monitoring weight, such changes can be noticed and precautions can be taken before the onset of disease.
4. Doctors need to know the weight of the animal in order to calculate the ideal medicine dosage to be administered to the animal.
5. The size and weight of animal can predict the future health issues which the particular animal might face, and the owners can be prepared for it beforehand.
6. The weight and size of the animal is essential for the purpose of selective breeding along with production records.
